There was a fantastic turn-out at Archbrook (between Shaldon and Combeinteignhead) on Easter Monday for the Teign Scullers Open Day where people were invited to have a go at fine boat rowing and enjoy a spot of brunch on the beach.

Conditions on the river were good and attendees were offered a short outing either in a four, accompanied by an experienced cox and two club members, or in the training pair. Over thirty people took to the water, ranging from those who had never rowed in a boat before, members of Teign Rowing Club and individuals with experience in fine boat rowing at club or university level. Many more watched from the beach.

Club Captain, Alan Gillespie, said "We are excited at just how good some of the rowers who came along were - not just the ones who had done it before, but some of the complete first-timers as well; with this new input of talent we hope to put together some fast crews."

New members are always welcome, so if you weren't able to make the Open Day but would still like to have a go at fine boat rowing then contact the club for more information and a list of outing dates.
