A team of Teign Scullers attended the regatta at Paignton on saturday morning with a four and a double. We all enjoyed ourselves and managed to score decent results in our categories.

The mens novice double of Nic Bourne and Adam Livett managed to miss the finish line, but were placed third in a close field of 5 boats.

Immediately afterwards Nic joined Mark Eastman to compete in the vets doubles. Despite Mark suffering from a cold, the pair put in a strong showing, losing to a younger mixed team from Dart Totnes and Torquay.

The ladies double race pitted Jenny Eslick and Jules Warner against Jacinta Jackson and Sally Livett. The latter pair were victorious, leaving Sally worried that she might have gained race points!

Finally all hands on deck for the men's sweep four. Mark decided to cox, placing Nic in his third race, this time at stroke. The rest of the crew was made up of Mike Cullen, Brian Cort and Ian Matthews. Sadly the team were beaten by a talented younger crew from Dartmouth.

The event was a great learning experience, and gave everyone confidence to look forward to the next regatta at Dartmouth.

Thanks to Denise Walker for some fine photos.
