It was a good day for Teign Scullers at Dartmouth Royal Regatta on Thursday 28 August 2008 although the crews could not repeat the success at Exeter Regatta and there were no pots this time.

The Women's Novice Four competed against five crews in one race. The start marshalling six crews in a good tide was "interesting" with the starter gabbling "go" before the crews were under starter's orders.

The Teign Scullers boat was a length or so ahead of Exeter B, until they were caught. Having held them for a distance the Exeter crew then steered right across the racing line of the Teign Scullers boat and were disqualified as a result. The boats had to stop to disentangle and the Teign Scullers crew rowed the final 250 metres very well, but of course behind the other crews. The crew rowed well for most of the course and were pleased with the result.

Lesley Mawson (who had also rowed in the four) and Rachel Cook were a very creditable third in their double scull race with a very sizeable distance to the next boat. They coped well with a patch of bad water during the race and looked good despite only having had very limited training time together!
